Do We Pass the Test?
For years, we have put artificial intelligence through its paces, with benchmarks, leaderboards, demanding exams and the famous Turing test, which asks whether a machine can still be told apart from a human. This evening turns the question around and puts humans on trial. In a world where AI takes over more and more tasks, what remains distinctively human? Empathy, humor, fallibility, consciousness, intuition, or the capacity to build relationships and take responsibility? And which of these qualities might an AI one day master just as well?
In improvised, unpredictable scenes, humans undergo a theatrical Turing test. Actors, audience, scientists and experts take on the roles of observers, examiners and fellow players, exploring together what makes us human and whether we pass our own test. The performance is followed by an open dialogue with director Stefan Kollmeier, curator Dr. Roland Lentz, the AI Theatre actors, invited experts and the audience, who discuss the ideas, conflicts and visions that emerge from the scenes.
